Redmi Note 8 Pro is all set to launch in India on October 16. Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date of the new phone on Twitter using the hashtag #64MPQuadCamBeast. The phone was launched in China in August, and soon after the launch, India Chief Manu Kumar Jain had said that the Redmi Note 8 Pro would launch in India after two months – after testing and certification processes are complete. The Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a 4,500mAh battery and is powered by the Helio G90T SoC.

Redmi India took to Twitter to confirm that a new phone with a 64-megapixel quad camera setup will be announced on October 16. The teaser poster has an Infinity symbol, which when flipped becomes number 8, indicating that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will launch in India then. The poster also teases features like UFS storage, pro gaming , super resolution, and the quad camera setup at the back. Soon after the China launch event, Jain had confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will launch in India in ‘8 weeks', and the company has stayed well under its announced timeline. There is no word on when the Redmi Note 8 will launch in India.

As for price, the Redmi Note 8 Pro India price tag is not known yet, but it should be close to the China pricing range. To recall, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will retail starting at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,000) for its base variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models have been priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,000) and CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,000), respectively.

Redmi Note 8 Pro supports dual-SIM, runs on Android Pie based MIUI 10, packs a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) screen, and is powered by MediaTek's new gaming-focussed MediaTek Helio G90T SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM. Xiaomi has also added liquid cooling support in the smartphone to improve the gaming experience for the Redmi Note 8 Pro users. Other gaming-centric features in the phone include the Game Turbo 2.0 mode. The company will also be selling a game controller for the phone.

The Pro variant is the company's first phone with a 64-megapixel main camera. The main shooter is joined by the same camera setup as the Redmi Note 8 – 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter and two 2-megapixel cameras. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera on board. It packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging, NFC, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, IR blaster. The Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone is also IP52 certified.

The Note 7 series set a benchmark in the smartphone markets around the world and it's up to Xiaomi now to one up themselves.

The mobile phone turf has seen a lot of developments in the past quarter or so with consumers eyeing features like pop-up camera, in-display fingerprint sensor and multiple cameras under various budget segments.

Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 8 alongside the Redmi Note 8 Pro in China on August 29.
Xiaomi had recently revealed that it was developing a phone with Samsung's Bright GW1 64MP camera sensor and that it would be launched soon. Now it's confirmed that the phone in question is none other than the Redmi Note 8 Pro which will have a 64MP quad camera setup on the rear. Xiaomi has also teased that the 64MP camera will offer upto 25x zoom.

The Redmi Note 8 will also sport a quad camera setup, but with a 48MP primary camera.

The Redmi Note 8 is priced at 999 yuan(approximately Rs 10,000) in China for the 4GB + 64GB variant, 1,199 yuan for the 6GB + 64GB variant and 1,399 yuan for the 6GB + 128GB variant.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is priced at 1,399 yuan (approximately Rs 14,000) for the 6GB + 64GB variant, 1,599 yuan for the 6GB +128GB variant and 1,799 yuan for the 8GB + 128GB variant.

The Indian pricing is expected to be on the same lines

Update (September 25, 2019): The Redmi Note 8 Pro is now officially available in the European market, priced at €249 (approximately Rs 19,500) for the base 6GB + 64GB variant and €269 for the 6GB + 128GB variant.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, along with 6 or 8GB of RAM. The Redmi Note 8 will implement the Snapdragon 665 with 4 or 6GB of RAM.

As for cameras, both the phones have a quad camera setup consisting of a primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a depth sensor. The Note 8 Pro has a 64MP primary sensor, making it the world's first smartphone to do so, while the Note 8 has a 48MP sensor.

Update (September 25, 2019): A new variant of the Redmi Note 8 was spotted on TENAA with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Five new colour options were also mentioned, including grey, green, pink, purple, and red. If this model ever gets a mass-market release, it is likely to start with China.

Xiaomi today launched the much anticipated Redmi Note 8 Pro in India, the company's first smartphone to offer a 64MP primary camera and a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset with LiquidCool technology. The phone will be available in three variants in India: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 128GB. Prices start at ₹14,999 ($209) for the base 64GB variant and go up to ₹17,999 ($251) for the top-end variant. The 6GB + 128GB variant has been priced at ₹15,999 ($223).

The Redmi Note 8 Pro was launched in China in August, along with the vanilla Redmi Note 8. It has an impressive quad camera setup at the back with a 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor. The 64MP primary sensor is joined by an 8MP wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.

Redmi Note 8 Pro is an upgrade over the Redmi Note 7 Pro in the display department as well. It is equipped with a larger 6.53-inch HDR-enabled IPS LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. For selfies, the smartphone has a 20MP camera on the front.

Keeping the lights on is a 4,500mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging. The Indian variant also gets a dedicated microSD card slot for further storage expansion as well as Alexa integration. While the phone will ship with MIUI 10 out of the box, Xiaomi has promised that an update to MIUI 11 will arrive before the end of the year.

In addition to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company has also launched the Redmi Note 8 in India at a starting price of ₹9,999 ($140) for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB variant of the smartphone will cost ₹12,999 ($181). Both the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro will be going on sale in the country from October 21 via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Amazon.in
