The government has increased interest rates on the General Provident Fund (GPF). For the October-December quarter, the GPF rate has been increased to 8 percent. Earlier this was 7.6. This will benefit millions of government employees. You have told you that the government has now increased rates of small savings schemes by up to 0.40% GPF or General Provident Fund is a Provident Fund account which can open only government employees. An employee can become a member of the fund by contributing a particular part of their wages in the account.
