WhatsApp set to launch this new feature, and it’s must know for every user

It has also been reported by researchers that WhatsApp group chat might not be so secure and a malicious server could allow someone to be secretly added to the group.

WhatsApp is evolving at lightning speed and the app is launching new features for its users. The Facebook-owned instant messenger is now testing a new feature, which can allow a group admin to dismiss another admin, without removing the person from the group. As of now when an admin promotes someone to the admin position, removing them as admin meant that they have to be removed from the group entirely. Currently, WhatsApp is now testing a feature, which will allow a particular admin to be demoted and the concerned person would not be kicked out of the group entirely, as per the report by WABetaInfo.

Actually, when an administrator promotes a participant as a new admin, in order to demote it again, it is necessary to directly remove him from the group, adding him again. But however, with the introduction of ‘Dismiss as Admin’ option, it will allow an administrator to dismiss another one without removing him from the group. The option will be present in the Group Info section.

At present, WhatsApp is developing this feature for iOS and it will be available soon for all users. At present, the feature is currently available for Android users in the newest WhatsApp Google Play beta for Android 2.18.1.

It has also been reported by researchers that WhatsApp group chat might not be so secure and a malicious server could allow someone to be secretly added to the group. However, WhatsApp has pointed out that it does give notifications and alerts when a new user is added to the group. But researchers have also shown that this hacker could restrict group messages, alerts, etc once they are successfully added to the group.

WhatsApp has indicated it will try and increase the power of group admins wherein they could restrict messages, GIFs, etc, sent by members. ‘Restricted groups’ could see more control by admins. WhatsApp is also testing a new ‘Quick Switch’ feature to let users shift from voice call to video. The feature is already live in Android beta version of the app.
